How to Apply DTF Transfers
Share
Getting high-quality DTF transfers is only half the job — the real magic happens during the pressing process. If you’re using Golden State DTF’s vibrant, stretchable transfers, follow these steps to get flawless results every time.
Whether you’re pressing T-shirts, hoodies, or tote bags, this guide gives you all the pressing tips and settings you need.
✅ What You’ll Need
Before you begin, make sure you have the following:
-
A reliable heat press (not a household iron)
 -
Teflon sheet or parchment paper
 -
Lint roller (optional but recommended)
 -
Your blank garment (cotton, polyester, fleece, blends, etc.)
 -
Your DTF gang sheet or cut-out transfer from Golden State DTF

🔥 Step-by-Step Pressing Instructions
1. Pre-Press the Garment
-
Set your heat press to 300°F to 315°F
 -
Press the blank garment for 5 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles

2. Position the DTF Transfer
-
Place the design ink-side down (film side up) on the garment
 -
Double-check alignment and placement

3. Press the Transfer
-
Apply medium to firm pressure
 -
Press for 10 to 15 seconds
 -
Use a flat, even surface — no pillows or uneven seams

4. Peel the Film
-
Peel hot or cold — Golden State DTF transfers allow both!
 -
If peeling cold, wait 10–20 seconds after pressing before removing the film

5. Optional Second Press
-
Cover with Teflon or parchment paper
 -
Press again for 5–7 seconds for a softer finish and added durability

🧼 Care Instructions
To extend the life of your print:
-
Wash inside out on cold cycle
 -
Avoid bleach or fabric softener
 -
Tumble dry low or hang dry

Golden State DTF transfers are washable, stretchable, and built to last — but proper care keeps them looking brand new.
⚠️ Common Mistakes to Avoid
-
Using too little pressure → weak adhesion
 -
Pressing with low heat → ink not bonding
 -
Not pre-pressing → moisture causes bubbling or lifting
 -
Peeling too early or too late → distorted transfer

When in doubt, test on a sample garment or contact our team.
